Al Reza Health Care and Research Foundation Holds Free Eye Camp in Kargil

Kargil, Ladakh- On June 18th and 19th, 2024, the Al Reza Health Care and Research Foundation Kargil, Ladakh Health Wing JUIAK Ladakh, in collaboration with ASG Eye Hospital Srinagar and the Department of Health Kargil, organized a two-day Free Eye Camp and Screening for Cataract Surgery. The event took place at the 18th and 19th at Old Hospital Kargil.

The camp saw the participation of more than 550 patients, who received free eye checkups. Among them, around 100 patients were shortlisted for further treatment. The camp was led by Dr. Manzoor Ul Mehdi, consultant ophthalmologist from ASG Eye Hospital Srinagar, who provided his expert services.

Dr. Mohd Abass, President of Al Reza Health Care and Research Foundation Kargil, highlighted the altruistic vision behind the camp. He emphasized the foundation’s commitment to providing free eye care services to economically disadvantaged and elderly individuals in the remote areas of Kargil. Dr. Abass also mentioned that this initiative follows a recently concluded Minimally Invasive Surgery camp, during which 12 major surgeries were successfully conducted by top surgeons.

Addressing the media, Dr. Mansoor Ul Mehdi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Kargil and reaffirmed his commitment to future collaborations with Al Reza. He announced that the shortlisted patients would undergo free eye surgeries during the upcoming Free Eye Surgery Camp scheduled for June 26th, 27th, and 28th. Dr. Manzoor also advised the youth to reduce screen time to prevent allergic eye diseases, which are prevalent in the region.

This initiative by Al Reza Health Care and Research Foundation marks a significant step in providing essential healthcare services to underserved populations in Kargil, ensuring better eye health and improved quality of life for many.
