Haji Anayat Ali reacts on Apex Body Leh and KDA Kargil for Ignoring District Demands of Zanskar, Drass, Nubra, Sankoo, Soth, and Shakar Chiktan

Haji Anayat Ali, Prabhari BJP Kargil, has expressed deep disappointment over the recent press conference held by the Apex Body Leh and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) at Leh. During the conference, these organizations reiterated that the long-standing demand for district status by the people of Zanskar, Drass, Sankoo, Soth, and Shakar Chiktan is not part of their agenda.

In a statement released today, Haji Anayat Ali stated, “It is unfortunate that the Apex Body Leh and KDA have chosen to ignore the legitimate demands of the people from Zanskar, Drass, Sankoo, Soth, and Shakar Chiktan. These communities have been advocating for district status as a means to secure better governance, infrastructure, and overall development for their regions. Their voices should not be sidelined.”

He further highlighted that the government is considering these demands, recognizing the potential for development and improvement that district status could bring to these areas. “If the government is willing to consider these demands for the benefit of the people, it is crucial that districts be established for Zanskar, Sankoo, Drass, Soth, and Shakar Chiktan. This is a vital step towards ensuring the development and progress of these regions but sadly KDA and Apex Body are creating hurdle on it ,” he said.

Haji Anayat Ali also emphasized the sacrifices made by the people of Zanskar in their quest for district status, stating, “The people of Zanskar have sacrificed a great deal for their district demand. It is deeply troubling to see organizations that claim to represent the people of Kargil at the Union Territory level blatantly rejecting these legitimate aspirations.”
