Sankoo, August 15, 2024: The 78th Independence Day was celebrated in Sub Division Sankoo, at Mini Stadium where Incharge SDM, Sankoo, Asgar Ali, was the chief guest.
He hoisted the national flag at 10:00 a.m. and saluted at the march past presented by the contingent of Ladakh Police and students of various schools.
On the occasion, the chief guest wished a happy Independence Day and highlighted the supreme sacrifices of the freedom fighters for the sake of freedom.
He paid heartfelt tributes to the national heroes who sacrificed their lives for independence and also honored the soldiers who continue to perform their duties at high altitudes to safeguard the country.
Furthermore, the chief guest enumerated the various developmental works and achievements taking place in the sub division and exhorted the public to extend their cooperation to complete the projects within the targeted time period.
The Incharge SDM appreciated the services rendered by the officials of SVD Sankoo, Revenue officials of Sankoo, Horticulture and Agriculture in the timely assessment of public assets that fall under the alignment of NH-301, which is still underway, and urged them to continue such services in the future as well.
The Independence Day function was attended by all the sectoral officers of SubDivision Sankoo, besides a huge public gathering that showed up in the event.
At the event, various patriotic songs and skits related to ill effects of drug addiction on the health were presented by students of various schools.
Before the conclusion of the event, the students who took part in the march past and other colourful programs were appreciated with certificates and momentos by chief guest. Some officials were also felicitated with appreciation certificates for their extraordinary services in their respective field.
In the end, the chief guest extended gratitude to the public and all officers of all departments for their active participation in the celebration of the event with zeal and enthusiasm.
