Historic Bumi Pujan Ceremony Held at New Gompa Construction Site in Kargil

Kargil: In Ladakh, a historic Bumi Pujan ceremony was held today at the site of the new Gompa in Kargil near District Hospital Kargil, marking a significant milestone in the region’s cultural and religious development. The event witnessed the participation of several prominent figures and dignitaries, underscoring the communal harmony and collaborative spirit of the community.

Among the attendees were the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil Dr Jaffar Akhone, along with Executive Councillor Punchok Tashi, Executive Councillors Kacho Mohd Feroz and Zakir Hussain, other councillors of LAHDC Kargil, President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) Tsering Lakrok, President LBA Kargil’s Tsering Morup, heads of various religious organizations, and numerous monks.

In his address, the CEC hailed the occasion as a landmark moment for Kargil, emphasizing its role in fostering communal harmony. He praised the LAHDC Kargil for its pivotal role in supporting the Buddhist community and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to providing ongoing support. Notably, he highlighted the auspicious nature of the inauguration coinciding with a significant day for the Muslim community, Friday, thereby symbolizing unity and shared celebration.

Other speakers at the ceremony also acknowledged the importance of the Gompa for Kargil’s cultural and religious heritage. They expressed their gratitude for the collaborative efforts that made this project possible and looked forward to the positive impact the new Gompa will have on the community.

The event concluded with prayers and blessings, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Kargil’s rich cultural tapestry.
